Metal and sculpture artwork, by Paratene Matchitt

Part of Paratene Matchitt’s untitled metal and wood sculpture can be seen in detail in The Terrace.

Exquisitely detailed, the large central diamond shape symbolises manaakitanga (hospitality).

It links the past and present, and contains the hearts, moons, stars, and crosses which are a signature style of the artist’s work.

Rising over two levels on the interior and exterior walls of the Aotea Centre, the massive artwork will also be able to be seen in its full aspect from Aotea Square once the current refurbishment of the Aotea Centre concludes.
