Movement of the Human’s celebrated choreographer and director Malia Johnston’s (World of Wearable Arts, Belle - A Performance of Air, Auckland Arts Festival) immersive urban dance experience – Tōrua arrives in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland for a very limited season. Her work brings together a wealth of incredible dance artists - Levi Siaosi, Sefa Tunupopo, Kia Jewell, Xin Ji, Jemina Smith, Ella Williams, Andre Busby, Petronilla Su'a and Cameron Holland who hail from across Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia.
This stunning dance work will take place over two weekends during April across two of Auckland’s iconic public spaces - Te Komititanga in front of Britomart Station and Aotea Square. Tōrua will gift audiences a journey that is led by the dancers as they move and respond to the urban landscape and use the city as their dance floor.

Accompanied by music composed by Anna Edgington and Eden Mulholland (Ngāti Porou), the soundtrack of Tōrua is integral to the dance work and creates a fully immersive piece. Audiences experience this memorising soundscape via headphones.

Tōrua is presented by Movement of the Human and Auckland Live, with support from Britomart, the Auckland Council Whānau and the city centre targeted rate.

- Tōrua is free but a ticket per person is recommended to secure headphones.
