Auckland Live is celebrating 45 years of the Auckland Folk Festival, right here in Aotea Square. On the main stage there will be performances by some of New Zealand’s finest folk musicians including Flip Grater, Fables, and Reb Fountain. During the week, Aotea Square will be home to New Zealand’s smallest music venue, Tiny Town, with surprise performances waiting inside!
The Bollands

Always on the road, indie-folk duo The Bollands have been singing their infectious foot-stomping folk songs around the globe for over four years.
Fables
Monday 22 Jan, 7pm – 8pm
This musical ensemble from the outskirts of Auckland produces a gentle and heartfelt indie-folk sound which can warm even the coldest of hearts.
Mahoney Harris
Tuesday 23 Jan, 12.30pm – 1.15pm
Singer/songwriter, Mahoney Harris writes intimate, wistful but hopeful tunes. Her voice has been described as 'honest, charming and beguiling’.
Flip Grater

Author and musician Flip Grater has been considered one of the leading voices in the New Zealand indie and dark-folk music scene for over a decade.
Slightly Imperfect - Greg Malcolm + Jenny Ward play Ivor Cutler
Wednesday 24 Jan, 12.30pm - 1.15pm
Slightly Imperfect introduces the absurd world of the late Scottish poet and songwriter Ivor Cutler, played and performed by underground Christchurch favourites Greg Malcolm and Jenny Ward.
Shindig
Wednesday 24 Jan, 7pm – 8pm
For that good old-time mountain sound! David Ward (banjo) and Eamon Edmundson-Wells (double bass) perform stonking old-time folk, blues and country tunes.
Reb Fountain
Thursday 25 Jan, 12.30pm - 1.15pm

Ravens
Thursday 25 Jan, 7pm - 8pm
Gypsy roots, forged from folk yet etched with brazen punk sensibilities make Ravens a welcome respite from New Zealand’s foray into soft folk. Ravens are punking folk!
Tiny Town
Mon 22 – Thur 25, 4pm – 7pm
Tiny Town was designed and built by Coastella Music Festival directors to give festival-goers the thrill and intimacy of their very own private show.
