“I hate normal, I hate everything to do with normal!”
Inspired by the life of trail-blazing New Zealand astronomer Beatrice Hill Tinsley, Bright Star is the story of an extraordinary woman fighting for recognition in an era where the fairer sex were best kept at home, looking after the kids and getting dinner ready.
It’s the early 1970s, and Beatrice is on the cusp of an academic breakthrough with her revolutionary theories on galactic evolution. Unfortunately life in Dallas, Texas, where Beatrice teaches, is not a fertile place for a young woman striving for excellence. So, when the expectations of male academia collide with a Kiwi icon-in-the-making, something’s going to give!
