Auckland Diwali Festival is back for the first time since 2019! Come along to Aotea Square on the weekend of 8-9 October and join in this celebration of traditional and contemporary Indian culture

Over two epic days see incredible dance performances across a range of styles on three different stages, hear incredible music, taste mouth-watering vegetarian food and check out vibrant crafts whilst celebrating with the community. 

On Sunday 9 October the festival will close with a spectacular fireworks display – you won’t want to miss it! 

The Auckland Diwali Festival is delivered by Tātaki Auckland with founding partner Asia New Zealand Foundation. The festival is free to attend, family-friendly, smoke-free and alcohol-free. 

Festival Activities

Music and Performances:
Enjoy two days of amazing dance & musical performances across a range of styles on three different stages, and hear incredible music showcasing traditional and contemporary Indian culture and Auckland's diverse Indian communities.'


Stalls:
Set your sights on mouth-watering vegetarian food, vibrant arts and various crafts stalls that will bring Queen St alive. Experience the largest vegetarian festival in New Zealand with an array of food vendors offering mouth-watering Indian dishes including Pakora, Pav Bhaji and Kulfi.

Chalk it up! Rangoli Competition 2022:
Draw a rangoli design in chalk at Bledisloe Lane (located between Aotea Square and Wellesley Street West), and be in to win a $200 supermarket voucher!

Fireworks:
On Sunday 9th October at approximately 8:50pm, the festival will close with a spectacular fireworks display from the Aotea Centre rooftop.

The Terrace and Container in the Square Café

The Terrace and Container in the Square Café will be open Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 October from 11am – 8pm. 

A special Auckland Diwali Festival menu will be available from the Monday 3rd - Sunday 9 October.
