Cello Li-Wei Qin
Qigang Chen Instants d’un Opéra de Pékin
Janáček Taras Bulba
Dvořák Cello Concerto
Chinese-born and Parisian-trained, Qigang Chen’s music blends East and West in a manner to set the ears tingling. His gossamer homage to Peking opera is a modern perspective on this venerable Chinese music.
Janáček’s retelling of the story of the Cossack warrior Taras Bulba is startlingly bloodthirsty, and enormously exciting.
Dvořák’s evergreen Cello Concerto comes from his years in America. Longing for his homeland, he poured his soul into the piece. The marvellous Chinese-Australian cellist Li-Wei Qin will give a glowing performance.
