Get ready to groove and move at Ladies of HipHop NZ, the most exciting celebration of women in HipHop & street dance. Auckland Council, En Beat Dance & Rina Chae, with the support of Auckland Live, are thrilled to welcome Michele Byrd-McPhee founder of the original Ladies of Hiphop movement in NYC, to our Aotearoa soil, along with world champion street dancer and mentor Nubian Néné aka Essence.
Across two action-packed days, experience all the rhythm and power of music and dance with two workshops, a seminar and an all-day dance battle event. On Sat, 8 June, at the Aotea Centre, experience the essence of the Ladies of HipHop movement in two free workshops led by a couple of the boldest ladies in HipHop, Michele and Néné.
Dive into House dance with the LOHH director Michele aka LadyByrd and explore Waacking with Néné aka Essence. Whether you're a seasoned dancer or new to the scene, these sessions will empower and elevate your skills. Don't miss this chance to celebrate and learn from the leading Ladies of HipHop. Round out your day with the free ‘Ladies in our Street Dance Community' seminar at the Herald Theatre, filled with the stories, challenges and triumphs of ladies in hiphop and the street dance community.
On Sun 9 June, join us for an exhilarating day of battles featuring international and local judges as the Ladies Battle takes over the Aotea Centre. This event is a celebration of the energy and creativity of women in the hiphop culture.
