NZ Music Month 2020
1 May - 31 May 2020
Support Local. Stream Local. Follow Local. Buy Local.
This May marks the twentieth year of NZ Music Month. Although this year NZ Music Month is going to look a little different there's still a lot we can do to support local music, the people who create it, and the people who make it possible. Each week we'll be sharing Kiwi music we've been loving, livestreamed gigs and concerts and more. Stay tuned!
Music Throwbacks
This week’s NZ Music Month throwback shines a light on November 2017, when Lorde graced the Bruce Mason Centre stage in an all-ages concert as part of her Melodrama tour. This wasn’t the first time the North Shore born-and-bred global star had performed at the venue; she got her first taste of the stage while a pupil at Takapuna Grammar School.

Artists we're loving
This week we're shining the spotlight on Alien Weaponry. Since releasing their award-winning album Tū, the boys from Northland have been on a meteoric rise, winning over audiences at festivals across Europe and North America.
Last year they were the recipients of the Taite Music Prize’s Auckland Live Best Independent Debut award, and in February they headlined Auckland Live’s Fringe Town at the Auckland Town Hall.
Watch RNZ Music's 10-part web series that follows the band on their 2018 European tour and check out their album Tū, here.

NZ Music T-Shirt Day
NZ Music T-Shirt Day is a nationwide celebration of the music of Aotearoa and the power music has to make a positive difference in peoples’ lives. Raising funds for MusicHelpsLive, to directly help those working in the New Zealand music industry, we’re encouraging everyone to don their favourite Kiwi artist tee shirt on Friday 29 May, and make a donation to this much-needed charity.
